The Brain G.Y.M.M.:
Mind Aerobics
The
NECC Mind Aerobics program has been designed to maintain
or enhance cognitive fitness utilizing a hands-on
cognitive training model in a small group or workshop
environment.
Mind Aerobics was originally developed to be
parallel to NECC’s Adaptive Computerized Cognitive
Training (A.C.C.T.) program as a means of making the
training more accessible to a greater number of
people. The program also addresses discomfort with
computers experienced by some seniors by simply
eliminating the computer. Some researchers believe
that the benefits clients experience as a result of
Mind Aerobics may be more easily transferable into
their activities of daily living than those resulting
from the computer model.
Mind Aerobics is based on a firm foundation of
neuropsychological theory and exercises, superimposed
with sound educational methodology. The resulting
program is highly interactive, cognitively stimulating
and fun! The program consists of two hour-long
sessions per week. Mind Aerobics clients receive
cognitive assessments prior to the beginning of the
exercises and after the completion of 24 sessions.
Mind Aerobics may be combined with A.C.C.T sessions
for more a comprehensive cognitive fitness program.
